Tom Mantyla President

Tom and wife Cathy reside in Newport Beach, CA, have been married since 1981 and have 2 grown children and one granddaughter. After owning and operating Baker Party Rentals in Costa Mesa for 40 years, Tom and Cathy sold the business and retired in March of 2022.

Tom volunteered and was elected President of GMCPC at the Pismo Beach rally in October 2022. As GMCPC begins it’s 47th year, Tom looks forward to helping the club remain a vibrant and relevant chapter of FMCA.

Tom grew up in a family of RV enthusiasts and became enamored with the GMC motorhome when it was introduced in 1973—“I’ve always thought the GMC was the coolest motorhome ever—someday it would be fun to own one!” Tom recalls. “Someday” eventually arrived and after searching in earnest for a couple of years, said fun began in October of 2020 with the purchase of a 1978 Royale. Located in Portland, OR, the decision was made to fly up and drive the coach home. The 1000 mile trip back to California (GMC performed well) remains the longest excursion to date.

Tom posted a “look what we just bought” message on the GMC Facebook page; numerous responses were received, most notably from members of the Pacific Cruisers suggesting they join the club. Members of GMCPC since December of 2020, Tom and Cathy have enjoyed several rallys and look forward to many more.
